New Additions to the Library in December

Locating Indices and Copies of Orthodox Journal Articles

Do you ever ask, “Is this journal indexed?” or ‘Can I get a copy of this journal article somewhere on Internet?”  Consult this spreadsheet to find out if the journal has a web site, if articles available on the web site, is the journal indexed, and if so, where, and which libraries have it.  This handy new spreadsheet may lead you directly to the article you want, or it could help you locate an index, saving you hours of searching.  Find it on the library web site under “Downloads,” then look under “Indices.”

New Additions to the Library in November

Index of Book Reviews.  We have just posted our first release of Orthodox Literature in Review, an index of over 4500 book reviews as they have appeared in Orthodox journals.  Both defunct and currently published journals are included in the index which queries Orthodox journals dating back to the 1950s.   Orthodox Literature in Review is an index that guides users to book reviews and where to find them, but does not offer full text of the reviews.   To see a copy of any review, contact the Diocesan Library which holds in its collection many of the journals indexes.    For further information on this Index see the Introduction.  The Index will be expanded and additional journals queried as they become available to us.

Journal Indexing Project.  Posted on the downloads page

Recognizing the frustration of locating information in  Orthodox Journals which are not indexed, the Diocesan Library has begun a long term project of providing indexes to Orthodox journals which are not otherwise indexed, of which there are many.  The first of these, a subject index to the monastic journal Life Transfigured ,is posted on our website on the “Catalogs” page.   This index provides Title, Author and Subject access to this journal from Vol. 16 (1984) to date.  The index is an Excel file and can be searched by using the “Find” command at the top right of the screen.  Subject terms used conform to Library of Congress and American Theological Library Association terms.   For more information on Life Transfigured Index see the Introduction.
